Last week, I along with a few other moms, were incredibly spoiled at the Orlando Moms Blog Favorite Things 2017 event. Held at the Orlando Science Center, not only was it a night of food, drinks and bonding, it was an opportunity to get introduced to new products. Did you know that Florida ranks 2nd in the country for wine consumption? (Florida Moms love their wine, right?) Well, we aren’t known for having many vineyards in Florida, so to reduce the carbon footprint of transporting wine to the Sunshine State, the Quantum Leap Winery model is to search for good quality, sustainably grown wine, wherever it is around the world but to transport it in large vessels to the Orlando winery. It is in this facility where wine will be stored, finished, blended and packaged. Owners Jill and David know this process substantially reduces the carbon footprint associated with traditional wine production.
2012 Kaley’s Rescue Red Blend – As our number one seller, we always blend Kaley’s Rescue Red to appeal to many palates. Soft and fruit-driven up front, the wine finishes dry. Our aim is to compete with the ever-popular mid-tier red blends, yet bring the consumer back to bolder, dry wines. Named for Kaley, one of our rescue pups at the winery, a portion of the proceeds in donated to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando.
2014 Garda White Blend, Veneto, Italy – The grapes for this wine come from a cooler-climate vineyard overlooking Verona in Northern Italy. Trebbiano was used for the aromatics and pear flavors. Garganega was used to give weight and mouthfeel. Acidity and the vibrancy of palate come from the Cortese. Citrus and peach elements come from the Trebbianello. This is essentially our take on a clean-drinking Northern Italian staple.
